Fox News has finally crapper out
I'm sitting here in the UCC again for the second week. Aside from how miserable being here already is, we're also watching Fox News. I just saw a serious news story where the anchor was very concerned about the possibility that machines mght become smarter than us and take over. I'm not making this up, the reporter had a physicist on there and was asking him about ways to prevent machines from killing us all. I can't believe I just watched a news network that takes itself seriously talk about fucking Skynet. The only thing dumber is Sarah Palin, which is what thy have on now.

it is quite a real possibility. however, until there is some evidence of it starting to happen, it is better left to AI techs, the gov't and Discovery channel.

Then your kid will be taken out shortly.
I have a NEJM article where it discusses this along with a "Discover" magazine special edition on the brain. Both basically said that it was closer than people think but light years away from reality.

first off, a lightyear is a measure of distance not time. second, if many educated people think something like this is plausible within the next ten to twenty years, then your reality would be closer than that. so something earlier then ten years is considered <insert long unit of time>'s from reality. ok...............
