Single vs double-action?

Is there anyone here who actually prefers double-action-only pistols? Take the Beretta 92/96 models for example, they make versions that are DA only, like the 92D. What is the advantage of having double action 100% of the time? Having the trigger pull as stiff as a revolver all the time? But apparently a lot of cops use ones like that, dunno.

The Majority of Police Departments that Use Double action side arms do so because the Litigious Nature of American Society. They don't want to ever here "The Gun Just went off" Or those police have hair triggers.

For carry, I don't like an exposed hammer that can catch on shirts, waistbands, etc. DAO is something that would be less fun to shoot, but easier to carry.

Dao is mandated by many law enforcement depts for the above reason; you really want to have to pull the trigger for the thing to go off....'course, hitting anything beyond 10 ft is a real "challange" with dao.

The only Beretta 92 I've shot was DA only and I hated it. With the long and heavy trigger pull I couldn't hit a damn thing. I understand why they do it, but take that trigger and combine it with extreme stress and it goes a long way toward explaining the studies that state cops have poor accuracy in gunfights.

I'm not the most coordinated individual. I prefer my revolver over the Glocks and SIIGs Steve has. I have a hard time getting his Glock out of the paddle holster and it freaks me out a bit with no safety.

I've practiced enough with my revolver to be confident if I had to take the shot. I want to be sure there are no accidents. I'm a pretty level headed individual if I were to have to defend myself I want to make sure there is a definitive act of me pulling the trigger.

Dao? Most folks don't want to mess with a safety in a combat situation. I'm curious what sa/da weapon you are carrying cocked though. Most of the ones I've played with have a decocker integrated into the safety and I don't think you are stupid enough to wander about in sa with the safety off

My dad showed me a way to fire revolvers quickly once that involved wrapping your finger further past the trigger and remembering where on the frame it went when the trigger broke. He's got it adapted to his sig dak now and its pretty impressive what he can do with it
