Fried Trout
So my wife got me a new reel (as seen below) as an early b-day present. Orvis B II LA.
So I had to go catch us some dinner. Got a 8 inch brookie and a 9 inch rainbow as my only keepers of the day. I fish the GSMNP, not tailwaters, so 10in is a big fish for the park. 7in and bigger are legal. I used egg, mustard, Tony's, and cornmeal. It was delicious.

Nice, blackened trout is good also.
I wonder how hard they would be to keep in an aquarium? Probably need to be cold. |

don't know, yeah, they don't like heat much at all. Especially the brookies. I think the rainbows would live better in confinement. That's what most people farm raise.

Wouldn't they need current? I don't know how river fish would fare at home. I know american lakefish do pretty well, sunfish, some bass, and the smaller members of the esox family

No, farm raised Bows come from ponds. Trout are lazy bastards. They sit behind rocks out of the current and let food come by and they snag it.

I had a BIG fucking trout swim between my legs last weekend. My dog scared it. Had to be 16 or 17 inches and THICK as hell.

If it is a stocked area, that's average. The tailwater trout get 20+ inches. I will take a pic of where I catch fish next time I go. Most people wouldn't think fish would even be in these little pools.
