If you want to do it the cheap DIY way (you will be building a ton of circuit boards from scratch including ordering every single part for them seperately), I can help you with that. |

I am thinking about doing it next year. I'll be doing it the easy way. As it is, I spend more time than anyone on the block putting lights up and taking them down, I'm not going to turn it into a year long adventure.

You need to start thinking about it and purchasing it in the spring, maybe even right after christmas. The easy way is not cheap and you can get deals on the systems right after christmas. If you wait til close to christmas (september/october) they are usually sold out by then. Then in about July(or earlier), you need start laying out your house in the software and start programming all the songs. The software is very precise and you have to input down to the 1/16 or 1/32 (don't remember) of a second for each and every song you program your lights to respond too. It's a long process no matter which way you go. I wish I could find a better song programmer to come program my songs for me, I suck at that part.

http://doityourselfchristmas.com Good mix of info on light setups and easy way stuff. http://forums.planetchristmas.com/ No matter what you do, you will be doing a lot of stuff yourself. The cool arches and fountain poles are all DIY setups. Last edited by Trip; 12-21-2011 at 02:23 PM.. |

that was awesome!
Trip, didn't realize you were actually moving as well. Good luck with that - I'm only about half way done.

Yeah, got that dam job in another dam city. Company helped me sell my house, paying closing both ways, moving us, and some other good stuff too. House is sold in Lenoir City, but the house we really wanted in Chatty was under contract when we found it and closed. So we are still looking for a house down there. Think we are going into an apartment for a few months. May have the builder who built the home we liked build a similar spec home for us, which could get us stuck in a stupid apartment til summer....
