Default New member of the pack!

Finding myself newly unemployed it seemed like a good time to take on a new pup and train him up right. We searched pretty much every shelter within a 2 hour radius and found "Pogo" at the local Fort Worth Humane Society. He is a 3 month old American Pit Bull Terrier (presumably full blood, but we'll see). All the dogs in the puppy room were barking and pacing....but not this guy, he was just checkin us out from his cage all curious and calm. We were actually searching specifically for a Pit Bull out of my fear that this may be my last chance to own one. We wanted a small Pit but think we ended up with a large one. No matter, we promptly renamed him Jax (SAMCRO) and took him to our family vet for a check up. He's in very good health and strong for a 3 month old pup. He has shown no fear or timidness and is attentive to commands and his name.

Like my Boxer/Mastiff mix Jethro, Jax is a great observer. I watch him scoping out the situation instead of just jumping in the middle of it. He's a thinker, but is already mastering proper leash walking and sitting calmly when he wants something. Our first trip to the dog park confirmed his courage as he willingly wrestled with any and every dog in the park without fear! As I type this he's sitting calmly at my left side just watching. I don't know that I've ever been around a puppy so calm and attentive.

Ladies and dog lovers prepare to have your hearts melted....

AINT SKEERED!!

Jax enjoyed his first raw chicken meal and promptly fell asleep. EXTREMELY successful first day in his new home.

Jax is getting along great! I caught him sleeping on my Boxer earlier. My lab is a fearful dog due to what seems to be an extremely neglectful first 6 years of life so it will take her another few days to get used to him.

What a cool looking dog....He's gonna be a big dude when he grows into those paws, though!

Bad news about the pink slip....sorry to hear it.
