Hence my suggestion for the favorite smileys feature. Pick your top 20 so they're in the reply box (that way you're not going through 400+ of them to find what you want most of the time)

We have that on another forum and it rocks. Too many smileys is annoying, but when you can have your favorite 20 set, it makes it alot easier to use them.
