Like the jackstand. Never even thought of that.

I am actually borrowing my cousin's PIT BULL stand, which I plan to make my own from. I was actually thinking about making a couple of stands when I make mine to resale.

I found some online for like $50 but they looked cheesey to me compared to the PIT BULL style. Either way, nice way to get things done man!

BTW, how well does that heater work halfway up the wall?!

Yeh i just tilt the bike up so that the back tire is a few inches off the ground, pull the jack stand under the swing arm, then in one motion push the bike up so that the weight is on the jack and slide a piece of 2x4 under the kick stand and the rear wheel is 2" off the ground. I use the engine hoist if I need to get the bike any higher, and just lift the bike from the subframe and the upper tripletree with some straps, then tie either end of the bike to teh hoist and let it down so that a little wight is on a jack stand, and the bike is solidly planted to work on.

I also have a bicycle inner tube over the top of the jackstand, then wrapped in duct tape a bazzillion times to prevent it from digging into the frame.

And the heater blows almost straight down. When I first got it I had it on the floor thinking that heat rises, and all it did was to char the floor around it so I have it suspended from the ceiling. It heats the shed in a few minutes so that I am comfortable wearing a T-shirt in the middle of winter.

I made my own stand and had almost as much as I would have paid for the one I was looking at, at harbor freight. I seen the one they have (the aluminum one) and it looks pretty good, heard one guy say that he had heard that for some bikes it was too short but others said it worked just fine.

hadn't heard that. was it the aluminum one? they have the hoop style too that even I thought was pretty cheap looking.

this is what I built. I ended up with about $30 in it, I had the steel already and the guy didn't charge me to weld it up.

My Vortex rear stand would be fine if the damn handle wasn't so short.

I have to have help getting the bike on and off the rear stand. That sucks!

Haven't seen the one from HF but I know that I can build a stand and have around $20 in it tops. I have the welder, chop saw, notcher and wheels (I think). I just have to get the tube and bend it up. I honestly think that I could make a nice stand for cheap.

You see, I come from a world of Suzuki Samurai's where there wasn't much aftermarket support for years and we had to build all of our own stuff. I have made bumpers, sliders, axle guards, and pretty much anything else you could think of over the years with good success. It also doesn't help much that I am cheap.
