Default Building my daughter a bed

Got the itch for a new wood project. So I'm building my kid a loft bed. It is nothing elaborate. Made completely of of 2x4 and 2x6 material with a couple of shelving boards. I would have loved a bed like this when I was a kid. it frees up a lot of floor space underneath to play or just hang out.

Got all the cuts made last night

Pile of wood soon to be a piece of furniture

Legs clamped and notched for the climbing rungs

All parts cut and waiting to be sanded and predrilled tonight.

Final assemble will be Friday night when she gets here to help me. Stay tuned

Man... I like the project cause building shit is cool, but wouldn't it be a lot cheaper and easier to just buy a damn bed like that? That looks like a LOT of lumber for a kids bed... unless it's going to double as a tornado shelter or something...

If he's anything like me, he over-engineers everything.

But truthfully, that looks about right for a loft bed.

Can you build Rangerscott a new garage? One with windows and heat and a dedicated heavy-duty power line...

Lol. Actually...lumber and hardware were 100 bucks. Can't buy a kit for that. Plus...I love to build shit myself

Yep. I always sigh at that question when I get asked. "Wouldn't it be easier and cheaper to just buy it?" I get enjoyment out of doing some things myself and there's a sense of accomplishment when I am done. And something may be cheaper and easier but mass-produced cheap crap is typcally, well...crap.

It all depends... a workbench - sure, that's cool. You can build it to your specifications per your intended use... I get that. A kids bed... Not the sort of project I'd really be able to get in to... to each their own though...

There is something to be said for building it yourself. I always enjoy building my own furniture, I just don't do it often enough.

I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of the finished product.

I'm building a hobby bench for a buddy right now. Maybe I'll post some pictures when it's done.
