Default Video cams

Ok guys, there are a lot of threads about cameras for mounting on your bike, but I'm looking for one for regular use.

What is the best to get, HDD, or miniDV, or flash memory?
Is a HD camera worth the money?

Lets get some input, I'm in the market and christmas is coming!!!

Go HD. They are getting cheap enough at this point.

but what memory storage is going to be the best?
Hard drive, flash drive, mini dvd, or tape?

I'm not going to go all crazy with video editing. probalby won't do any at all other than maybe cutting some out to make it shorter, or adding music to it.

This is more for recording the family, the dog, stuff while i'm here etc.

I'd go toward some kind of removable memory, like SD or some other shits. Tape is on its way out. The removable makes it portable should you want to edit on another machine or something.

so probably like the mini DVD then? i've heard bad things about the flash memory, not sure if it's true or not.

Personally I'd steer clear of miniDVD. I've heard bad shit about them. Pro's are using removable memory. Though, Sony's XDcam uses a disc...

Cameras (not vid recorders) these days shoot good video. I have a Kodak v1253 (old now) that shoots 720p pretty well and I now have a Sony 290 that does 720p also. I'll try to upload some test shots for you.

I like to shoot everything in HD, then convert the file to what I need it to be. Its nice to have on PC a nice clear video and if you just need to upload it quick then a compressed version of it is fine for internet viewing.

I know they have great quality, but I would rather have a video camera for taking video. Something that can record hours at a time, instead of minutes.
I already have a camera...

My camera will record for how ever big my memory stick is. Just like camcorder would.

For file transfer, the easiest would be one that takes memory cards or has an HDD.

HDD tend to be in the upper cost range but you can usually find a good deal from time to time.

Sale starts tomorrow.
