Quick notes on new Arai RX-Q (replacement for Quantum II)
I don't know what's going on but it's been a real pain in the ass to find an RX-Q. My regular shop http://www.motorhelmets.com had several on backorder and luckily the Italian Flag large just came in for me today. It's brand stankin' new and I haven 't had a chance to use it yet, ergo the quick notes:
1. I finally got me an Italian flag helmet of good quality and don't have to put up with the piece of shit Vemar Italian flag one any more. 2. It fits just like the Quantum II that it replaced, so no fear for the Quantum II wearers. I still need to get the 15-mm cheek pads because the stock 25-mm pads are too tight around my fat face. Alas, the cheekpads are on backorder. I'm very surprised that Arai isn't on the ball with availability of helmets and accessories. I can wear the helmet but it pinches my cheek something fierce. 3. The quality is typical of Arai - great. But the graphic is kind of uninspiring (aka ugly). Oh well, can't have everything. 4. Vents are exactly the same as on the Quantum II. I don't know why Arai simply didn't call it Quantum III. 5. Padding is also typical of Arai - nice, thick, pillowy and comfortable. 6. Visors are not interchangeable with Quantum II because the opening is larger and gives you a hair more visibility all around, not that I had an issue with visibility of the Quantum II. Overall, I'm happy with the purchase.

I'd be interested in seeing a comparo shot of the two visors to see just how much bigger the opening is.

well it does seem to give a bit more peripheral vision or could just be the angle of the camera as you're slightly behind the old one... and slightly in front of the new |

Supposedly the cheekpads for the RXQ is interchangeable with the Quantum II. I just got that info off the Aprilia Forum. I'll see if I can do the pad switcheroo tonight to verify that the info is true.

I was wondering... Save yourself a lot of time and aggravation if they do fit.

Cheek pads and visors are not interchangeable between the RXQ and the Quantum II.
