No. Rural areas where farming is still prevalent still need their kids home in the summer.

Not in school so I don't care, but there is alot to be said about kids being able to run around free for a few months and be able to act like children.

More school isn't going to help when the standards are so low.

Yes, it will eliminate the students having to refresh their memory from a break. There are more students in this country in Urban areas, or non-farming areas, than farming.

I completely agree with year-round schooling.

Hell no. its the content of what is being taught that is more of a problem than the length they have to teach it in. Summer is a very valuable time for my son's development.

Look at it from the teacher's standpoint: a good chunk of teachers use summer months to get up to speed on newer teaching methods as well as on curriculum changes.

Yes, they should be taking continuous education. I'm not saying students should be in classes all year. I'm all for more sporadic breaks rather than three to four months in the summer. It is in those breaks teachers would have the opportunity for those classes and changes.

this, maybe just spacing out the school year instead of making it longer, would be better and get rid of the 1-2 months refresher every year. Instead of having one big summer vacation, making spring break/fall break longer and add a few more smaller breaks in there.
