No shit, and to lug a 30lb Bag up with you that's swaying 10 ft below you.
I wonder how much they make a year...I'd have to take a month off after each climb just to be sane enough to do it again.

Yea, I'm not afraid of heights and I was good to go up until the small, open rungs on a pole part....that might have been the end for me...
On another note, I wonder why they don't wear parachutes? Must be the bulk. |

Free climbing at that height?! You'd think they would design in a simple way to scale those things, since it's inevitable. Some of those maneuvers he had to make to get on different sections of the tower would be brutal to reverse on the way down.
Unless they pulled the cord before they started falling, they'd look like Wile E. Coyote when the canopy deployed after hitting the dirt like a lawn dart. |

At 1700ft? They would have a few seconds to pull. New River Gorge is only 876ft and they drop for a bit before they pull chute on bridge day.

Still can't imagine doing that on a regular basis. It has to be mentally exhausting knowing the consequences of one missed hand or foot placement. |

That's what I was thinking. A compact, "quick chute" would at least give you a chance of survival. You'd still hit the deck like jumping off a 3+ story building though...
