Selling a bike
We are selling my wife's bike-probably on Craigslist. My question is-How do you take care of the test ride thing ? Normally for anything CL, I will meet people in a local parking lot away from my house.
I say this because I know I wouldn't buy a bike without a test ride, but I don't want to get screwed if some test driving a hole drops it. So what's the smart thing to do? |

Ask for the cash in exchange for a test ride, they break it they buy it.

Yep.
You can ride it all you want. You just have to give me a small deposit, like let's say, my full asking price. JC

Every time I've ever bought a bike, I show up on my bike to check the potential new steed out. I have never asked for a test ride. I have always been asked if I wanted to try it out. Just depends on the cirumstance obviously, but for Craigslist and all the BS on there these days, I'd sure let people know up front how things will go down.

Also, I would get a look at their driver's license ( it would be good to copy their info off the DL to make out the cash receipt ) |

I'll let him test ride if I know the guy or he has the full asking price. I don't have full coverage, so no rides.
That and I hate punks.

i have sold many a bike.. i never let anyone test ride unless they give me 100% of my asking price before they take the bike, period. they don't like it, don't buy it. i don't fucking care. i have zero patience with people. it is what it is. a $2,000 bike is not a $450,000 ferrari, get over it.. there are scratches and it has been used.. if an asshole shows up i will boot their fucking ass to the curb faster than they got there..
but glad you made the sale..
