dead in the water
last week i went to take out the bike (3rd time of the year) started right up but sounded a bit off, let it sit for a second sound went back to normal. put it in gear still normal, twist the throttle a little and it dies and wont start back up. i keep trying it til i kill the battery, a few backfires but nothing. put it back on the trickle charger and try it again the next day still nothing. this week i change the plugs and clean the air filter, plug everything back in and still nothing. at this point i am completely lost and just want to burn the thing to the ground. any ideas would be helpful

Fuel filter. Possibly got a slug of gunk and plugged that F'er right up. Swap it out and try again.

havent checked the fuel filter yet, i took the gas out of it and put fresh gas in. it was idling for about 3 minutes at 2k then went to 1k for a bit and died. i killed the battery again. once it charges im going to get it going and adjust the idle and hope thats all it was. if not then check the filter

Report?
Did you seafoam or stabil the gas before putting it away for the winter? Wondering about clogged injector... |

Dumb question time. Does it have plenty of fuel?

Secondly, there are at least a dozen things that can prevent the spark plugs from firing, and another half dozen that can prevent fuel from entering the combustion chambers. It's pretty rare that you're not getting both fuel and a spark, so it's a good idea to see what is missing. If you have fuel and spark in the combustion chambers, then you've got other problems. On my old bikes, I can easily attach my old timing light to a plug wire to see if I'm getting any kind of signal to spark. With newer bikes and the kickstand down all winter, I would probably bypass that safety switch first. Then I would check the fuel pump relay. Good luck. |

you store your bike for extended periods on the sidestand? I usually get the tires off the ground...
Sorry, back on topic. While you are checking that other stuff: after you have it on the charger does it crank strong? |

See Jarv! If you didn't move back to NY, your bike would fire right up down here.

sorry guys for not getting back to you in the end it wasnt the spark plugs at all, just a tank full of bad gas. even with fuel stabilizer in it, it still went bad and it only sat for 3 months Dec 3rd was my last ride and i took it back out march 5. as for winterizing it doesnt sit on the side stand. and before i wanted to burn it i did do a lot of cursing and throwing shit haha so i went through the full agenda. i have since put 2 tanks of gas in and have been doing plenty of riding so all is good
