Default anybody got a Roomba vacuum

we're about to get wood floors and i know they get dirtier quicker. cleaning lady comes 2x a mos, so a daily vacuum would be great if it works well.

What Roombas can do, they do really well on wood floors. They won't take the place of weekly vacuuming / sweeping, though (if for no other reason than they won't clean in tight corners or under furniture). Ours was useful to us for picking up dog hair during the week. Probably wouldn't have needed one if we didn't have indoor dogs.

I had a roomba and a scuuba. Loved them both. Not awesome on deeply grouted tile, but did the trick with multiple pets. On wood floors I bet the Roomba will be fantastic!

can they do multiple rooms?

the living room leads into the master bedroom, would be nice to be able to do both?

can they get over wood "transition" pieces? to go to another room?

They can do multiple rooms, they are "smart" in that they learn the rooms and where they can go, and as far as the transition piece, it really depends on how big it is. If it's small they can do it usually...

I think you can also get room docks, so they know where to go dock themselves that are programeable.

Good concept, poor execution. We had two different models (the "top of the line" and one mid-range) and went through the warranty exchange program several times with each of them.

Batteries lose their capactiy quickly, they get stuck easily if there are any narrow spaces between furniture, furniture and the end of an area rug, etc. One stopped finding "home" and would just run its battery dead while repeating the same surfaces over and over again. One motor burned up and the brush stopped turning (tile floor use only for this one). The "top of the line" model was great at first, but it developed a LOUD squeal in a few months and performance deteriorated to the point I could see dirt/pet hair/dust on the floor following a cleaning cycle.

The worst part was the company gave us the big FU as soon as the warranty period was up. And they didn't even add an extension for the 2+ months we didn't have one because they shipped me a new vacuum but were out of chargers (so in essence, I got a paperweight back).

Customer service was the final, and most significant, dagger for me. I don't mind "test ing" out new technology and offering useable feedback, but if you're going to turn your back on me at the earliest opportunity I will not be spending more money with you.
