What weather keeps you from riding?
Other than hail of course, what typical or unusualeather in your weather keeps you off two wheels?
Here we have sand storms. Plowed cotton fields, no rain, and high winds. Got one going on right meow. |

Anything under ambient temp of 45*. Naked bike = no bueno. Of course no snow or ice. I try not to ride in the rain to work. That's just miserable if anything is wet at work. Although my new job has a shower, so I can warm up if I need to.

Although I don't ride nearly as much as I used to, I've never been stopped by any weather. The most interesting although unpleasant ride was the last trip of a move and the bike was the last thing to go. When I left, it was raining. The rain turned to sleet then to hail then to snow. All this occurred in about 15 miles. It wasn't bad until while coming up a ramp, I turned my head to look back at traffic and my neck was exposed in the middle of the hail! THAT was painful!
During the blizzard of 91, I lived 25 miles from work and worked graveyard. All I had was a motorcycle. I rode the entire trip with my feet on the ground and beeped the horn and waved at the 4-wheel drives in the ditch as I passed. (it's a wonder I didn't get shot!) The coldest on a motorcycle was 18 below 0 F and the hottest was a bit over 100 F but, heat doesn't bother me. I HATE COLD! I tolerate it well but, I hate it! Cold rain is my least favorite! I've ridden through every form of weather known to man but, most of it was when I was younger and had much less efficient gear but, a much tougher (dumber) me. |

If it is icy or snowing, I don't ride. I have a snowmobile for that shit.

I don't ride when it's unusualeather outside. That shit pisses me off.

Anything more than a 10% chance of rain and I'm not going to bother. I'm pretty much commuting only these days... If I can avoid a wet ass, I will.

40* is generally the limit for cold for any distant ride. I will piddle around in town colder though.
Snow/ice on the road I won't (besides my 'round the block I did last weekend ) If it's raining when I would leave for work, then no. I don't mind a "pleasure" ride in the rain, or riding home from work in it, but being wet all day at the office is not my idea of fun. |

For me in Michigan, it's the salt. Anything near the low 30's will usually result in salt on the roads. And when they salt in Metro Detroit they make the roads white.
