If your neighbor has wireless...
with no password, do you say "hell with paying for internet" and just use the free connection?
Oh, and if I'm using said connection, can my neighbor figure out what sites I'm viewing and what I'm typing, etc.? |

I've done it... Connection reliability drove me to paying for my own connection.

If they are stupid enough not to protect their network, I don't think you have to worry about getting caught.

Actually, your neighbor can see what sites you've been on, and if you do something that makes them notice you they can seriously fuck you up. I had unsecured internet and then a neighbor in a rental property started doing all kinds of retarded shit. My network is secure now, and you can chalk one laptop up to Black Ice. You pays your money or you takes your chances.

Wireless routers do not maintain a history of the website you have visited. Those are only stored on the local computer or in the case of a network, the server. Captain, you are fine, nobody will know what pron sites you visit. The only thing that they will notice is a slow down in their dl speed.

I called my ISP to find out what sites my IP was accessing, lots of AdultFriendFinder, some cheap tranny porn. He was also hijacking my bittorrent bandwidth and seeding bullshit I didn't download. I fucked that guy up.

It's a commandment thing. Seriously though, if you need advice on petty theft, RacerX is the guy to talk to... JC

And as for the internet, rather than the door being unlocked, it's more like the door is unlocked and they have a sign out that says, "my stuff is free for you to use, just as long as I still have complete access to it also." Is it really petty theft in your eyes? They're broadcasting a connection. It's like McDonald's, or some coffee shop wifi. It's just out there, being broadcast for everyone within a certain radius. |
