Default Shipping overseas?

Anyone here shipped a bulky item across the pond?

A guy in Ireland would like to buy a set of bodywork from me but the shipping quotes I am getting from the big companies (UPS, DHL, USPS) are ridiculous.

Any recommendations on shipping companies to look at?

Thanks for any help.

Sorry bro, but that's the problem. There is no cheap way to ship overseas. I just got my new body kit and the shipping was $225 from China. Europe isn't much better. Last time I ordered carbon fiber bits from England, the shipping was 50% again of the cost, it's ridiculous and kinda unfair considering the fact that the plans are going there anyway.

What bike is the bodywork for?

If he can wait send it regular mail. That's how I shipped everything to/from England and it wasn't really all that expensive.

It's a 675.

Ironically, depending on the shipping costs, it would be cheaper for him to buy it from me, pay a few hundred on shipping and still save money over the cost of buying it there.

I have to check with the post office tomorrow. Looking online, USPS won't ship the size box that is needed.

So far I've gotten the costs down to $335 including insurance.

DHL quoted me $835. That was WITH the online discount of about $70.

Yep.

For that much he should be able to find something more local.

I've shipped a lot overseas, like suits and gear. USPS International Priority Mail is usually the best price, surprisingly enough.

Yea USPS is where it's at for a box that size... Hey I'll loan you my empty one. Just asking but have you considered breaking it down into two boxes? Sometimes if you can get the box size down it helps. Also back in the day, airlines would let you buy a seat for a package... although, idk after 911...
