Default Thinking about WV

I've been scouring maps of WV, looking at doing a 2 or 2 1/2 day ride to do sometime next month. The real goal is Rt 33 in WV which is #12 on AMA's great roads

RT 33

Longer route

Shorter route

and a list of ideas

you need to finish the BRP, it was awesome or are you going to wait for the rally to do that?

For the rally I think I am gonna leave here on friday, get south on friday night and either crash at someones house or camp, do the warrior dash, then I have nothing to do until the next wedensday/thursday when everyone meets up.

I am trying to get it worked out that I spend Mon/tues/wed in Mississipi for work then head back to TN/NC wed afternoon. That way work will pay me the equivalent of my airfare ($550) and car rental ($150) to get there and back, plus get rid of the need to make my 4th qtr visit. Add in my perdiem and some other costs it would almost pay for the whole rally by itself.

If i can do that i would do the BRP, at least from half way through VA or at the VA/NC border down and leave after work the wed before the warrior dash.

Kerry probably has a bunch of knowledge of good roads in that area.

If your going near Snowshow, looking into Rt 66, off Rt 219. 219 and 66 is a personal fav in WV.

You can spend the night in Malinton WV for the night at the Old Clark Inn. Andrea and Nelson own the Inn and cater to bike riders. My group has a WV meet each yr and we stay there for several days. Good times.

Seneca Rocks is off off 33/28. Great little general store on the corner. Can get some lunch and relax for a bit.

Green Banks Radio telescope is neat to check out. on Rt 28 I believe.

New River Gorge is great to check out. Hawks Nest WV is fun to ride through but short getting to the river.

33 in Harrisonburg sucks, but 33 on the state lines is great. 250 on the state lines are fun also. 220 is a slow winding road following the river.

I try to play on these roads often. pm me if you need any help.

We are looking at possible going to Seneca Rocks with another couple in July.

There is a road going north towards Snowshoe ski resort that was pretty twisty. Not sure what it was though. Might want to check Car and Driver's website to see if they have a list of the good roads. AMA is like the AARP of the automotive world.

Take US40 from dc area to hancock md, or go further north near me and us 30 across PA then head down into WV. I'm local to a lot of the midpoint of that trip.
