Default how to get rid of bat

ok so here's a new one. girl came home from work Mon night. suddenly I here her yelling. get up and she says "there's a bat in the house". ok I get dressed and come downstairs to shoo it out. Keep in mind I wear contacts and am blind without them. I manage to get him out into the porch and possibly all the way outside.
dig around the porch can't find him.
Last night she wakes me up again. apparently he was still in the porch and is now back in the house and flying around the bedroom. ok back out of bed, dress and arm self with a towel. I managed to wing him but he goes downstairs. I can't see him and she is quivering in a corner and doesn't want to come look for him. finally she pokes head around the corner, "there he is!!!!!" top of a cupboard. I wing him with a canoe paddle but.......he makes it into the living room. 1 hour later I tape the doorway shut and go to bed.
I have no idea how I'm going to find that little creep in there. too much crap he can hide around. I'm going to have to empty the room piece by piece tonight with my contacts in.
So any one know any tricks to attract a bat to a trap of some sort. I don't feel the need to kill it if not necesary but dead or alive he's going out of my house.

get a fishing net and a pair of thick work gloves.

a tennis racket as backup works well too. go ahead, ask me how I know.

We had a similar problem about two weeks ago.

Laying in bed and I felt this thing land on my arm. I wake up, turn on the light and see that it's a bat. I flicked him off my arm and jump up. Since I'm still groggy, I stood there and looked at it until it flew away. Searched high and low but never found that stupid bat.

About 20 minutes after going back to bed the wife shoots straight up and screams. It landed on her. This time I threw a towel on top of it, picked it up and released it outside.

Next night we had two bats in the living room. He came back and brought a friend. Neither one survived the night.

Keep a baseball bat or tennis racket handy. He will be back.

As far as what attracts them, darkness and bugs...

F landing on my when I'm asleep !!! That would suck. Yep the net or tennis racket and gloves sounds like the trick.

Why am I suddenly reminded of the movie, The Great Outdoors? Have you seen the bald bear yet?

Seriously tho, a net and thick gloves would do ya. Try not to directly handle it, bats are dirty lil critters and you definitely dont want to get bit. If he's already been outside and came back in he could be ill and disoriented.

Oh, one last thing.

Bats can carry rabies. You do not want to get bit. Rabies shots are not pleasant.
