Default T pastrana.......about to do it again.

Extreme sports icon Travis Pastrana has recently completed his first round of practice jumps for this year's "Red Bull: New Year. No Limits." stunt and so far so good, says his prime sponsor, Red Bull.

For the uninitiated, Pastrana, an accomplished motocross, freestyle MX rider, and champion rally racer, will attempt to break the current 171 ft record jumped by a rally car. His landing pad: a barge floating in the middle of Long Beach Harbor in Southern California.

Enjoy the pics and be sure to check back for more as the New Year's Eve approaches.

Ahh. I am a HUGE TP fan. But this stunt is weak to me. Its RedBull and someone as powerful as Travis will have 12 engineers working on this stunt. It will look cool and the car will prob be tore up. But there won't be much danger or skill involved. This is an engineering and ball sack stunt.

He's rallied for a few years now...

Most notably his "best" performance...

I think he's cool with what he's done and accomplished, but all I'm going to say is

"it's just a matter of time".

I don't care who the hell it is or how many engineers have performed calculations - jumping a car 170+ feet onto a barge has more than a *little* possibility for things to go catastrophically wrong. I agree the driver's skill requirement is fairly low since it will be a matter of just hitting at the proper speed - but it's still a pretty dangerous stunt & takes big hairy ones, no matter how you slice it!
