Default GP85 race w/SEMRA at CMP

Thought I would just post this up for you all to enjoy. My son is riding a 150r now so it's just me holding the 2-stroke flag for the family. SEMRA went to the all new kart track at CMP this past weekend and man, it's friggin' awesome! This is the only "mini" race that's given me a small feeling of being back on a big bike. The track is ultra fast for minis, perfect surface, GREAT run off...it's hard to ask for a better mini track.

This race had just about everything a racer could experience which is why I love it so much. Hope you enjoy.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X45U92JFzIM (It's available in 720p if you choose it)

BTW, if anyone is interested in mini racing...the bike that was used to dominate that race (ridden by Carlo Gagliardo) is for sale. I wanted him to ride it so everyone could see it's a dang good bike...and he proved it.

intense, where did you finish? Looks like you were in 2nd for awhile after one of the leaders ran wide and dropped to 3rd after your fall.

I rather fiddy racing though, because it doesn't feel like a big bike.

I got 3rd. You could hear my friend Trevor on my tail the whole time. He could just barely pull me on his 180 (air cooled 4-stroke, 50 chassy) but not enough to take me...which is why I was trying to late brake as much as possible into turn 1. I had resigned myself to 4th until the rain started pouring. That's when Palmer (cobra 65) backed way down and let me ease on past. Palmer and myself are going at it for the championship, so I'm always happy to finish in front of the little guy. LOL

Troy...you wantin' an 85?

From what it sounded like, you already had something else in mind. If you're interested, I'll be selling this thing for next to nothing compared to what other bikes with the same upgrades are going for! Email me if you're interested and I'll give you the whole low down.

Very cool! Nice vid. You guys are movin! I could hear your buddy the whole time up until the slide, musta been a good race. Love the sumo-action thrown in when you went through the grass :P

I've had a few tastes of mini racing... loved every second of it... Stock crf50... both wheels slidin everywhere, constantly saving lowsides on a knee... Wish I had the cash to do both mini & full size.

Q - Do you always use the clutch to up shift? Why not clutchless?

Thanks, it's definitely a lot of fun.

Yeah, after I went down I started making mistakes and just wanted to finish the race. Luckily the rains came and let me catch that little guy on bike 34. He's my main competition in the championship race. LOL

I do sometimes go no clutch on upshift and downshift. I try to still use the clutch though just to keep my "big bike senses". I don't want to develop a bad habit that I'll have to break when I go back to the big track.

Well that begs the question, why use the clutch to upshift on big bikes? Clutching IS the bad habit you should be breaking

Just pre-load the shifter, roll off the gas to unload the transmission & get right back on it. It's quicker, more efficient and arguably less wear & tear on the bike.
