Default Add me to the ranks of the unemployeed...

For 13 months that is...

Today was my last shift in the ER and I am off on short term illness for work until I give birth

Then Mat leave for a year to raise the Squirmy.

An hour into it and I started kinda panicking. I feel a need to work, but my body is failing me and it's getting a bit dangerous in the ER. I warned a patient today if he as so much as touched me, I am hitting him back. Got a baby bump to protect.

I'm sure I'll get used to this "not working" thing eventually. But it goes against my grain since I was 15. I'm sure in a year I wont want to go back.

Someone drink a beer for me please. I am having a def tea...

canada

You recieve EI 345/week) but a lot of companies top it up (mine does).

It can be taken by the mom or dad, or split up between the two...

It was 90 here yesterday

Mat leave is 17 weeks (pretty well 93% of my total pay - employer provided/topped up with EI) the other 34/35 weeks is EI.

We're pretty lucky and have worked hard for this over many years. Gotta thank the women and men that came before me for this. I can't imagine heading back to work 6 weeks to 3 months after having a baby. I wouldn't want to hand my infant over to someone else to raise if I didn't have to.

Not everyone has this opportunity up here. Financially we can handle it so might as well

And I might just go nuts.

I'll have to think of this as a sabatical.

Damn a whole year thats nice, most of our peeps here go 6 to 12 weeks and are back working.

One of the other PA's just went out, shes about 5 months and is on bedrest now. last year she was at about 5 plus months and lost the baby so were hoping this one goes well.
