Default Flu shots going to medicaid first?

One of the other engineers in the office had his wife take their 10 yr old to 2 different pharmacies’ today to have their daughter get the flu shot.

Both pharmacies’s asked her if she had insurance. Her answer was YES…then they responded that she had to wait 2 weeks. That they were only giving them to those without insurance and on Medicaid first. Then, if there was enough after that, then she would be able to get their daughter immunized with the shot.

WTH?!?!

Any one else run into that?

Granted….he lives in a more rural county than I do…but damn!

Around here since it's in limited supply people in the medical field are getting it first since they have to deal with everybody that comes in.

Within a few weeks anyone should have access to it in NC, limited supply right now but it's on the way with supply being more readily available each week. Vaccines can be accessed with little to no cost, typically you may have to pay an administration fee for the shot ranging from $5-15 depending upon where you go.

As long as there is supply on site, no one will be refused at the health depts...
