Pat's tastes like greasy shit. I ate there one time and so much grease pured out that it soaked my lap and burned me. I then go sick afterwards from too much grease. I like a greasy steak (it wouldn't be a true Philly Cheese Steak with out it) but Pat's goes over board. I'll take a Gino's, Tony Luke's or Gooey Looie's any day. I had one from some little take out joint on 2nd street in South Philly last week and it was excellent as well.

If you wanna talk Philly steak, there is but one; Jim's.

...And I don't mean South Street (although they now make a good sandwich), but I mean the original location at 62nd and Noble.

Anything else is a mis-steak.

Unfortunately I have never had Jim's but if it the place I think it is, we drove past the one on South Street and the line was out the door and around the corner at 2pm. I may have to make the trip.

Angus beef, Amoroso roll. BEST. STEAK. EVAR.

The South Street location grill is now well seasoned, and finally making steaks on par with the mother store, but I'm nostalgic, and always like going to the old place. Besides, you don't have to fight off the throngs of people always lined up out the door at South Street.

There's a reason why there's a line there, day or night. Jim's is the finest Philly steak there is.
