Rae, I can tell you from experience that while these girls exist, they are NOT the norm. And, the others their age know how to dress and act. As the world whores around them, there are parents like myself and my husband that are very old-skool and believe there is a right and wrong way to raise a child.

Clearly, this one is wrong.

Man, it gets hateful quick whenever you talk about celebrities. Is that just plain ol' jealousy that causes it to happen or something else?

Anyway, Miley is 17 and probably much, much more mature than the average 17 year old. She's traveled the world, been surrounded by well-educated (and possibly evil, sure) grown-up, and has a father who understands the ins and outs of celebrity status....and who, despite his now laughable career, is a pretty intelligent guy himself.

So, here's this good looking girl who is coming of age, well into puberty...yet she's got this thumb of Disney pushing her down, trying to make her stay 12 years old. Then she's got the rest of America, who, for reasons unbeknownst to me, have all kinds of terrible things to say about her no matter what she does.

Is it safe to say she might act out a little bit? Might wear something more provocative to say, "Hey, fuck you, I'm going to act how I want and wear what I want." Does it make her a whore? Well, I guess if you're a Mormon, sure....but in reality? No, and its completely absurd to spout such accusations when you know absolutely nothing about her other than what she wore to perform a concert as an entertainer.

Hell, for all I know she's being instructed specifically what to wear and how to act....I don't really know. But its the same as all the hate Britney got, and Lohan and the other girls mentioned in this thread. None of the people talking shit could handle that kind of fame or stardom, and money doesn't make a lick of difference when you can't go ANYWHERE without being mauled and photographed, and stalked and spit on.

I'm a fairly emotionally stable guy, good family and all that...doin ok in life, I'm not a scumbag and I'm not crazy. I got a small dose, barely a sliver, of the fame these people have, and it almost broke me man, it was hard to get hate mail and threats and shit all day, and it did make me angry and it did make me act out...and if the media were covering it they would've made me out to look like a fucking lunatic, which would have made it all the more worse. I always used to think, "Oh boohoo, poor celebrity with their $3,000,000 house and their Ferrari and private race track, oh it must be so hard, boohoo.." But my perspective is a little different now. Some people handle it just fine, but they make a small minority.

No celebrity has any obligation to be anyone's role model, no matter how they're portrayed. That is SOLELY the responsibility of parents. You want to let Disney raise your kids, fine, but don't expect to have any control over the content.

I love how you've got your finger on the pulse of the celebs. Thanks.

While there's bound to be a certain amount of jealousy involved, when it comes to celebrities, you could set your watch by how long it takes them to go from wholesome to skank ho.
