Oh yeah, Chrysler makes utter shit. Worst fucking cars in America, hands down.
It started with the K car, and it's been nearly all downhill from there.

I've had GM and I just don't buy ford because my dad would set it on fire when i went to visit. No GM vehicle I've ever had has the fit and finish that my VW has.

back to the original question. I have 130,000 trouble free miles on my '02 5.4 Ford. good maint goes a long way to keeping things going.
if it's a used anything you take a risk that the previous owner didn't do maint. I do like the Chevy as well. Stylewise I would lean towards the Chevy. Never really loved the expy although it's not bad by any means. Only trick I would mention would be if trying out the older Ford, push the little button to switch the trans into tow mode. two wires in the column have a tend to strip and not operate. Not a big deal but you want to know about it. mine is out right now, have to pull the cover off and solder them up. Ford's 4.6 is a completely useless motor. Don't buy one. Chevy's small V8 actually felt pretty good and had decent towing. Ergonomically I like Dodge but they don't seem to have anything with a good track record or towing cap. Although a boat you should be able to haul with any half ton. too many trans issues with dodges also. |
