I had a well put in at the same time the irrigation system was installed....it's been well worth the initial investment as I water as needed without the punitive water bills.
Having said that, I'm pretty burned out on mowing. It's been 100F+ for about two weeks straight here and that has slowed down the growth a lot. Laying down the fall fertilizer and having all that fescue go dormant for the season isn't going to hurt my feelings a bit. |

we have no water meter - and our lawn is still dry and dead. In Seattle. Ya, I suck. But it drives my neighbor nuts (his lawn is PRISTINE!) and I don't have to mow. So whatever. win win I say.

Unless the first reading was wrong, the bill is accurate. We are still trying to determine the source of the waste and are working on getting a credit. I also had the city install the proper sized meter as the house came equipped with a meter big enough for a farm. The way it was set up, even if I used the same amount of water as my neighbor, I'd still be paying 40% more.

my lawn gets mowed when I get to it.
If it looks a little higher than some people like it, too damn bad.

I'm taking care of my parent's place right now while they're on holidays.
The lawn gets mowed every 5 days and each time you do it you have to go a different direction. Sheesh! |

Those who are having problems with brown grass, are you watering it during the dark hours, like you should? If you water it during the daylight, the sunlight gets magnified by the water droplets, burning the grass. Plus the obvious evaporation.

AMJ, you've never mowed that lawn. No one with the sort of pets you have even HAS a lawn.
