It all depends... a workbench - sure, that's cool. You can build it to your specifications per your intended use... I get that. A kids bed... Not the sort of project I'd really be able to get in to... to each their own though...
The whole idea is to give her more floor space. Her room is cramped with a full size bed. I'm gonna keep it a full size bed. Just up in the air about 5 feet. That will create a cozy little space underneath to read, play, etc.

I will never be a fine woodworker. I love building sturdy stuff that is functional. That's why I get into the 2x4 projects. My grand dad always built arts and craft stuff like paper towel racks. magazine racks, etc. I can't get into that stuff either.

I would have loved something like that as a kid. That's cool as hell.

My uncle loves the fine woodwork stuff. Built an amazing crib that has been handed among his kids for the grandchildren.

Dimensional lumber furniture is cheap, functional, and kid proof. I can't wait to see how it turns out.

Got everything predrilled and sanded last night under my carport while it snowed. Sand about 4 boards, go warm my hands, repeat

Assembly last night

I discovered some design flaws. First, too high. Can't even sit up in bed without hitting the ceiling. Made some changes today. And....voila
