Default Canadian Superbike series on the rocks

Last week, Kawasaki Canada announced that they wouldn't be running a team in next year's Canadian Superbike. The only other team, at the moment, is BMW. Yamaha pulled out, a couple of years ago, and Honda hasn't run a team in a good number of years.

Yesterday Parts Canada, the series' title sponsor, stated that they weren't supporting the series under current management. I read the rant, by the head of the current management, that they say was the final straw. It wasn't pretty and was one of the most unprofessional pieces of crap it's ever been my misfortune to read.

Now it's looking pretty doubtful that we'll have a national series, next year.

Hahaha. Talk about putting your foot in your mouth.

How many million did that rant cost the series?

I'm not on the inside of CSBK, so I don't really know. I would guess maybe half his operating budget. Tmall, you saw the rant? It was his second, this season. In his first he referred to Steve Bond, an acquaintance of mine and writer for the Toronto Star "Wheels Section", as a hippo. Steve is 6'3" and something like 210 pounds. Not exactly a hippo and it never does you any good, to pick fights with the media

Now I've just received news that Toronto Motorsports Park, in Cayuga, ON, is up for sale as a "power of sale" (implies bankruptcy). This is a hell of a bad week for motorcycle racing, in Canada.

I didn't see the rant. I would have liked to. I just read through the thread and got the gist of it.

I like Parts Canada a lot more because of it. I would say that I'll throw them my business, but let's be honest. If you're ordering from a shop, that's who it comes from anyway.

Check your PMs.

When you order from a shop, it depends on what you are ordering. If it's an Ohlins or Hyperpro product, then it's likely to come from Parts Canada. If it's Givi luggage, then you'll only get it from Importations Thibault. Agip? Motovan. Our distributors make exclusive importation deals then act as middlemen, driving up the price of product in Canada.

Well things are looking a lot better, over the last month, than they were. Mopar has picked up front-line sponsorship of our national series.
