TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A Tucson police officer has been told she will be fired after being arrested for drunken driving while on duty.

Police say officer Lynsey Coutts was served Tuesday afternoon with a notice of intent to terminate. Her hearing is May 29.

Department officials say the 4-year veteran had been working under an agreement since March that prohibited her from having alcohol in her system during a work shift.

Police say Coults was scheduled to start work at 9 a.m. Tuesday. She called a supervisor around 9:20 a.m. to say she was driving fast on Interstate 10 and was afraid of colliding with other vehicles.

Police say a test showed Coutts' blood-alcohol level was 0.235% - well above the legal limit of .08% to operate a vehicle in Arizona.
