Default Chain Lube

I don't lube my chain as much as I should because no matter how carefully I sprayed the lube, it got on the tire. I used to hold a piece of cardboard against the tire, but lube still got on everything.

Today I was going to put a cardboard tube from an empty paper towel roll in the recycling bin, when I got an idea. I made one slit through the tube length-wise and placed it around the chain. I put a couple paper towels on the bottom of the tube and sprayed the chain through the slit. Eureka. The overspray stayed in the tube and the excess that dripped was absorbed by the paper towels.

It only took several minutes and clean-up was a snap.
