yeah... I've run my best in cold weather... and I love to run in the rain... but I've never heard that cold weather is unhealthy to run in...

In his 10 years of working with the U.S. Olympic Committee training facility in Lake Placid, New York, exercise physiologist Ken Rundell, Ph.D., found that as many as 50 percent would develop "skier's hack"--a transient cough--during or after training.
In subsequent research at Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania, Rundell proved that the dryness of extreme cold air causes the "airway narrowing," or more commonly "exercise-induced asthma." But my friend's statment was that breathing in too much cold air was detrimental to the lungs, causing damage to both the immune and the respiratory system. One can maintain safer intake temperature by wearing a mask which warms and moistens the air that enters the lung....

I like my pace man to be in front of me, that way I can try to catch him and we both speed up. As for running in cold weather, wear a scarf around your mouth but not your nose, breathe through your nose until you get to your target heart rate, and wear a hat.
