Being that it is a kit car that depends on the source components. Add in that you actually have to build the car yourself at their "micro-factory" and some skilled labor costs are removed. My guess is that is also a very base price. I'm curious what the cost of the engine is (and if it is included in the $50k). BMW has been willing to sell their engines before, but I think they make you pay handsomely for them.
