His main drag is newspapers. Newspapers suck at making money. His problem is he now wants people to pay for online content, but looking at the thread dealing with that I'm not sure how successful he will be. At least he is trying something to make a profit. The Times and its subsidiaries seem OK with the status quo of financially taking it in the ass and seem completely willing to ride their unsuccessful business strategy in to the ground.

I saw an interview of Robert Murdoch many years ago and the man is no doubt a genius. He also slammed the shit out of the tool of an interviewer who was trying to bust his balls because he owned Fox News.
I don't know how the charging online thing will work but if there is a bright side and newspapers do start charging, it'll force the papers to worry more about real issues and not Brittany Spears' latest nip slilp and gossip. People who want the know about the later can go to 10million free blogs about that and let the people who do want to know what's going on in the world pay a small fee and get the news they want.
