Default SIDI Boot help, QUICK!

I am ordering new boots today and can't decide.

SIDI Vortice's, worth the extra money?

I have Vertigo's currently but they need to be replaced.

I like the Vortice's but they are A LOT more money.

Any input you have regarding your experiences is appreciated.

Don't know if you've seen this but NewEnough has a few Vortice's on closeout:

I didn't know that, Thanks!

Still, Motonation has the white Vertigos for $173.

Still a $156 difference....

Is the Vortice the newer version of the Vertigo Corsa? I have the Vertigo Corsa, and from what I can tell it's the same damn thing as the regular Corsa but with an extra strap over the top of the foot which is a PITA to fasten. I'd rather NOT have that thing. It's fiddly and annoying and of doubtful benefit.

I think they are similar.

I'm not too sure about the older names.

The current Vertigos which are almost identical to my old boots doesn't have the extra ankle support / hinge thingie, nor do they have any of the straps.

From what I read / hear from experienced dirt riders, no hinge = better. If there's a hinge, it's solid in other directions, so lateral force is all concentrated on the knee in a fall. If there's no hinge, there's slight to moderate movement allowed in all directions. In dirt, hinge = knee stress in a fall.

That being said I've never crashed a street bike (knock on wood!) so I have no idea of the physics of it.

Ordered the Vortices.

I really wanted to go with white but went with black instead.

haha, I did the same thing. I just couldn't bring myself to go with white.

I will warn you, they're a bit complicated and take some getting used to. The straps... do not click the button to loosen the strap while the crank piece is flipped up ready to turn - you'll break the little plastic strap. Now, on the Vortice those pieces can be replaced - it's still a pain though.

The Vertigo is a great boot and in the current version is much more like the slightly older race boot. I raced in those for a couple years and loved them. I don't think the Vortice is worth that much extra money as an everyday boot
