Thanks for the post up Nick. I have lived in Knoxville, TN my entire life.

Man, I am going to miss those Friday afternoon rides up to the Gap..aka "Dragon"

We will be spending some time in Austin, that is where my sister-in-law lives.

Welcome! you're about 1-1/2 hours from Austin so it's not that far. Someone else said it best though, nothing but flat roads up there so you'll be forced to head our way for good riding..

1-1/2 hours? Yeah, on a bicycle maybe....LOL.

Temple to Austin is 45 minutes, I assure you. Nobody on this board has driven that stretch of I-35 more than me in the last year....Lori isn't feeling well this morning I think.

Sweetie, the way YOU drive (90mph+ at midnight) down I-35 it's 45 minutes. The rest of the human race it takes at least an hour.. and if you're going to south Austin, it's an hour and a half. More if you hit rush hour.

The roads around Temple and Killeen are as good as any this side of Kerrville. Riders just keep their mouths shut.

Both areas are flat compared to what the OP used to.
