we don't *usually* buy anything we can't double our money on.
We shop frugally - can fix anything - and have access to a full shop and paint booth. Cars and bikes we've been able to do that on - our trailer probably not so much. We'll sell it for more than we paid (we've put upgrades in it in the meantime). But the rule when shopping is "can we double our money"

Depends on the item, depends on my cash flow. I try to buy at or below dealer trade-in (I know, I know, but you'd be surprised how many folks just want it out of their garage...).
How much I sell for depends on demand...if it's an R6, R1 or a GSXR it's going to go for near book...if it's a werd bike, I'll usually sell for 10-15% below retail book......otherwise it could take a year or more to move certain items.... By the same token, you bank dollars, not percentages. If you pick up a bike on Friday for $2000 and can deliver it on Sunday and make $500..... why not??? Frees up that cash to do it again on Monday...... If I have to drive 5 hr round trip...I'm going to want to clear more.....

I'll give you $200 for the trailer.
