Default Realistic Robot

It is amazing how this robot can hold a conversation with people and actually think to some degree. Check it out:

Heres the web address of the company that deals with this kind of robotics:

I hope they never get that smart. If they do, we may be potentially screwed

Better stay away from Toy's-R-Us then. They're finishing up a kids toy that does roughly the same thing, tho I wouldn't imagine it is as smart as Jules.

I watched a couple other videos and they (as in the viewers) say that he is programmed to a script and only responds after the person speaks. You can kind of tell that it may be scripted but when he is talking to the baby he says one wrong word and corrects himself with the proper one, which leads me to believe that he can "think" to some extent. I think I remember seeing a robot on the History Channel a while back that could actually comprehend english and respond without prior scripting.

And Rae if you think thats creepy read this:

Quote:
These lifetime partners can also be created as custom, one-of-kind life-sized character robots through a process known as Identity Emulation, where a real person (living or dead) is recreated in robotic form. Prior examples include the PKD Robot and the Albert-Hubo robot. Our understanding and interpretation of biological and neurological systems further secures a top leadership position within robotics and the ongoing innovation of its products and patented core technologies.
I dont know if this is what they're talking about but I have heard things about brain mapping in which one persons brain is "copied" into a new, robotic host "brain". So essentially the persons personality, speech, and possibly even facial expressions/movements can be emulated by the robot. It makes sense to me but the possibility of creating a 100% exact copy of the person seems very unlikely to me. But you never know about how far technology has actually gotten.

I always think of what Ben Rich and former vice president of the Lockheed corporation told Jim Goodall (on Area 51): "We have things out in the desert that are 50 years beyond what you can comprehend...and wont be made public for another 50 years. If you've seen it in Star Trek or Star Wars, we've been there and done that." No telling how far we actually are.
