A co-worker just had the same toolbar/search provider/garbage app stuff happen with a telnet application, that he downloaded from TUCOWS. Can no one be trusted anymore?!

Are these just cases in which you fail to deselect a checkbox or something when downloading/installing? Everything I download today seems to ask me if I want to install some fucktard toolbar...

In the case of my co-worker the installation window was apparently oversized for the notebook's screen resolution so he retried the installation on another, with a higher resolution screen. He's the one responsible for creating production installation images so no big deal; he just wipes and reinstalls them automatically after testing.

When he could see the entire installation screen he found, and then deselected the additional crap. That didn't matter though, because all the crap got installed despite being deselected.
