Yeah, for the most part guys just used the gearmotors... However, relays are cheap and you can certainly find one that wouldn't burn up...

OK - I'm going to have to check this out. Adan is finally starting to ride his starter quad - 6v. He's been pushing it up until now. Thanks for another time suck for me, Ed.

Heh... 1 1/4HP... pretty good. In the combat robotic community (Battlebots), there were guys who started a barstool-like racing circuit... the only rule was that whatever they built had to fit into a theoretical cube 24"x24"x??, where '??' is unlimited. Basically, at 24"x24" footprint. Guys were putting e-tek motors in them at 72v... good for something like 30HP... I wonder how many of them lived...

Me too.

We had my nephew's quad for a while and went through the same thing. She'd push it for a while and then started riding it. Then it died.

I'm on the fence about what to get for Christmas; an electric toy or no?

I picked up a PW50 from a friend so I was going to forgo the battery stuff but I'm not sure if she's ready for the 50 yet...

If it has either the throttle or exhaust governor (or both) on it, it is what I consider reasonably safe. Our daughter could actually pedal her bicycle faster than the PW would go when it was fully governed.
