I had a friend who was in the Army ROTC and she had a girl under her who had failed that run like 4 times... they just kept letting her try and try and try until she passed it. Of course the friend was in hot shit until she got the girl to pass...

My daughter is in a delayed entry program with the Navy. Signed up last fall, leaves for boot camp in May. She HAS TO meet the weight and PT standards before she goes to boot camp, or she can't go. She meets with her recruiter twice a month I think to do PT. I'm not sure if her contract is void if for some reason she couldn't meet the standards though, or if it just delays her going to boot camp. Since she doesn't have a problem with either, I don't know that she knows either, but I can have her ask if you're still interested.

Yeah. Ari. Ugh. Mommy not so happy about it, but, its what she wants. And my fingers are crossed that she'll be stationed in San Diego area where my dad lives and which is road trip distance from me.

Wow! Well that's crazy and something I never would have figured. Where is she now?

I went through boot camp 10 years ago and they will help anyone who is struggling in the PT dept.

13:30 1.5 mile? That's a 9 minute mile. Anyone should be able to do it if they're determined enough. If he doesn't run often, having someone that does it more would definitely help him judge pace. No matter what, there's always enough left to kick to the finish!

I used to do 3 in ~19. 8 minute mile is lazy or out of shape for me- where I am now 6 is pushing. But I have some crazy long stride, so that helps. I hate running in the cold, and on treadmills I need a running buddy.

I actually run my best in the rain... dunno why... may have something do do with growing up in oregon...

but everyone I've ever met will run better with a buddy who can just out pace them... well as long as they've got the heart to push themselves.

That's the truth.
Run here by myself, with a stopwatch or with a playlist set to the time I want to run, and I just can't do it. I was running 17 min 2 miles and couldn't beat it.
Get to the actual PT test and ran a 15 min having someone run with you makes all the difference in the world!

I run a 12:15 2 mile. A 13:30 1.5 is almost walking.
