Thanks everyone... we're still getting through the adjustment period. Tigger and Piglet are slowly developing curiosity about the Token orangie, but there's still a lot of hissing around our house.
Our cats absolutely know their names (and sometimes even respond when called). Hell, Piglet comes running if Chris whistles for her. Carrot doesn't seem to respond to her own name much, but does respond to Token, so sadly, that may end up being her name afterall. |

it def takes some time for them to adjust. We kept the calico in th ebasement for a week or 2 and slowly let her interact with the other 2 but only when someone was around. their first interaction was funny, they sniffed each other, nermal hissed at her, she hissed back and nermal was out of there

We brought her in in the carrier, and stuck it in the middle of the living room (but left it closed) so Tig & Pig could sniff her, check it out, etc... then we let her out after half an hour or so. So far, there haven't been any scuffles, just the hissing. She stays (by her own choice) in the 3rd bedroom most of the time, though last night and this morning, she's been venturing out more and more.
What's funny is how lovey and affectionate it's made our OTHER cats. They've always been sweet, but not lap cats by any stretch. Now it's almost like they're staking out their territory, and they're EXTRA super affectionate. |

Aww... kitteh!
After two years, our oldest cat will still occasionally decide one of the newcomers is a scary intruder and get all hissy. Sounds like you're off to a reasonably good start by cat standards!
