Yea, any tat I've ever seen was at least drawn on before it was inked. "Freehand" just means that they didn't use a stencil or copy a picture.

My whole arm is free hand, the only thing drawn was part of the outline, everything else was done straight from the gun.

Wow, well you are brave son! One question, why not draw it in first? Just asking. I'd imagine that it's some kind of design and not a picture, right?

you really need to see his arm to appreciate the artist who did it. lots and lots of intricacies (sp) in it that i don't think a stencile would be able to be used

My arm is in the tattoo picture thread here. The artist is a close friend and I trusted him 110%.

My piece started out as a stencil and the artist added freehand around it. By freehand I mean ruff sharpie work just to get an idea of how it would look and then freehand with the gun but of course I did know the guy and we speak the same language.
