yo. No I don't expect it. I live in a culdesac and we have retaining walls and bushes and stuff dividing the yards so you can't go from door to door thru the yards anyway...you have to enter from the street. It wasn't a case of "kids run up the grass, then the parent will follow them" either...some of the parents were leading the kids by hand cutting thru the grass. Just for the record I'm not and wasn't pizzed about it...just shook my head because there was no reason to have to do it and saw this thread so I posted about it. I wouldn't have started a thread about it...not that big of a deal. |

We got a disappointingly small number of T or T'ers. It probably didn't help that we were pretty much the only house on the block that decorated. The neighbors are promising to do better next year. We'll see.

We got 2 kids that showed, so they got 2 handfuls of candy each.
I know they didn't walk in my grass, since I don't have any in the front yard. They said thank you, and happy halloween when they left. I still have about 10lbs of (good) candy left over. Win.

When I was a kid we ALWAYS cut through the yards and it was no big deal... we also used to hit the houses with porch lights and always said 'trick or treat'... I will certainly be teaching my kids proper t&t form... |

I got a few teenagers in no costumes, but they at least said "trick or treat". The ones that bugged me were the kids who rang the doorbell and knocked on the door 100 times while I was nursing the baby. But there was always one in the bunch who apologized for the excessive ringing and knocking, so that was nice.
I grew up in the country, grass is for playing in and running on, I would rather walk on grass than on cement any day. |
