But that is what human nature consists of. If you don't understand how humans work, and you're a human yourself, then yea...you're sheltered. There's nothing wrong with recognizing the bad parts of humanity that have always existed.

You took part in something that was cultural and social. What he was forced to do was secretive and anti-social. Do you not see the difference?

No I've never taken the time to research history. I'm so stupid.

I'm not saying it's not part of humanity. I get that. But what is sad about humanity, is that we now accept these stories as commonplace and regular.

I guess I'm just not cool enough not to care. It's so cool not to care. i wish i could be cooler.

But they are commonplace and regular, that's what I was saying.

And you're not stupid, don't be so hard on yourself. Geez.

Yes I think this was wrong and totally cruel and ignorant of this so called mother.

Hunting and/or shooting rodents in a tree is totally different.

This Hampster to many was just a rodent BUT to this kid...it was his pet..from the way I understand it...and for this mother to make him kill it for punishment is fvcked up beyond belief.

No I don't see this having anything to do with the kid growing up to be a serial killer at all but it was still a very cruel and stupid thing to do.

Take the Hampster away from the kid as a form of punishment...sure...no problem with that but to make him take a hammer and bash it is mental abuse for the kid imho.

The mom probably read a book that said to take away the thing most valuable to the kid. Maybe she tried taking the hamster and it didn't work and the kid was still being a shithead. So she decided to make him kill it. Then he called social services on his mom. And that's how we found out about the story.

We just lived in a much smaller bubble without the internet. I believe anyone who lived in a war torn area has accepted heinous acts as commonplace before the tech boom. Our bubble has gotten larger to include such things.

Who says I am cool? I certainly don't... It's just not something that worries me. I got more important things to worry about than a mom that is in trouble for doing something retarded.
