Oh I do that too... The forum filters are really the best defense but when people really, really don't like you they come into threads you start to insult you. Heck, I rarely open their threads at all.... If you think I'm "stupid" or whatever, why would you even open a thread I start? Weird.

1. Threads like this. Sorry, Lon. I'm not trying to be mean, but WTF? Somebody criticized you because you ignored Jesus, and you give a shit?
2. New threads with nothing but an internet link and commentary like "Interesting", or "Herka Derka", or "Wow". I have Google on my computer. I don't need a search butler. If soemthing is interesting enough to post, at least give us the Reader's Digest version of it.
3. Certain people posting on EVERY thread whether or not they have constructive input. Hey, I don't know shit about nuclear fission, but the OP is dead wrong!

In general, I'm sick of internet forums altogether. This one isn't any different from any of the thousands of others out there. I know it is impossible, but I try to treat people on the internet as I would in person.

If I go to a bar, and there is a loudmouth who interjects himself into everyone else's conversations, I avoid or ignore that person. If at the same bar, someone's only contribution to the conversation is "Hey, did you see this link on Youtube, etc", I avoid that person. If at the same bar, there is a bully wandering around picking fights, I certainly avoid that person. If there are more of these people than "normal" folks, I find another bar, or simply go home. I think most people here would go by the same guidelines in real life, but throw everything out the window when it comes to an internet forum.

Long story short, if you don't want to see someone's posts, put them on ignore. If someone else has a problem with what you do, put them on ignore too.
You know what's really funny? You criticized my thread and then made the perfect case for my point of view, thanks! No big woop or anything, I've been criticized for using ignore a few times and was curious what the general consensus was.

I don't use it. I'm sure I would click on it to see what they said anyway. If the piss me off I just ignore their post on my own. Thats while I like the pictures under the name, a quick glance tells you who is posting so you can decide if you want read it or scroll to the next.

I also don't ignore because someone can be an asshole in one thread and not in another. So I try to leave an argument in the thread when I leave.

There has been times that I didn't even open a thread because of the thread starter or because of who was the last poster.

I've done it a few times. It was more annoying to see them being quoted or to see their "hidden" post, than to actually ignore them or just stir the pot to get em riled up.

Yep. I use to have jetski on ignore, but agree with the feature being annoying. One of two things would happen...either people would quote the person, or you had no clue WTF people were talking about. I finally decided to just stop responding to him. I've also stopped responding to other idiots on here, but won't bother with the ignore feature for the same reasons listed.

(But to cover my ass...if you think this post is about you (the royal you)....it's not. And if you want this post to be about you....it's not).
But in making this statement about who its not about, you have made it about them before they even had a chance... soooo, realistically this post is now about whoever you were referring to it not being about... royal or commoner, either way...

I don't see the point of it. I don't get emotional about the internets
