I have done the jumper mod on my 05. I had the race ECU which gave it a big kick. No other mods, OEM pipe, no PCIII. Good gains. I sold the race kit ECU and did the jumper mod. Little kick, all up top.
Sup Zippiechikie?

05 was the first year you could do the jumper mod. zippie, its extra simple. take off your seat, find the plug, stick a wire in it, throw some tape on and put the seat back on

Or you can hit up kawiforums dot com and do a search. A member there provided a write up with pics. There is a 4 plug connector under your seat that leads from the ECU. It is capped and you remove the cap and place a peice of wire in the connector attaching two of the circuits. This makes the ECU think it is in the Euro configuration and it opens the exhaust valve up completely from 13,000 to redline. (ordinarily it stays partially closed to lower the decibel level to EPA standards.)
I used a 2 wire connector rather than the "jumper" wire so condensation or a short couldn't occur on mine. Yes you get about 5 hp on top of your rpms but there is no change or difference until after about 13,500 rpm. I don't know of anyone who cruises up there that much unless they are on a race track...
