the saiga 12 can be bought in a tactical configuation from atlantic firearms, as well as the .223 version if you want i can give you a hand finding the right one for you.

I know they are available complete, for me the process of building it is as important as the product. (they taught me the valuse of arts and crafts back at the home)

You know, speaking of AR gas systems, I'm kind of surprised nobody has mentioned the Robinson XCR.
Granted, it doesn't fit the "classic battle rifle" theme, but it does have a growing fan base. Hell, I'd own one if I had the budget for that kind of purchase right now. http://www.robarm.com/
