I read the first 5 lines. the real problem with grading is that i took a test a few years ago and got 10 questions right (out of 50), the rest of the class did much worse, so I got an A on that test. In all reality I should have been given an F, I was just lucky to have a bunch of idiots in the class with me.

Part of the problem is that while a 2.0 is supposed to be "average," at most colleges anything less than a 2.0 in a course means you dont get credit for that course and for all intents and purposes you failed.

That rule shifts the grading scale to mean that
2.0 - borderline failure
3.0 - average/satisfactory
4.0 - above average

Definitely an interesting shift.

As another point of interest when we're looking at applications for enrolment, the grades are weighted based on what school they came from. The same is true for every university in the Province. Past performance shows us where the grade is over-valued, based on performance.
